Vehicles in Germany's City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Police stated they were notified by a man who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state early analysis show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.

A senior official said the attack made him stunned and required to be solved promptly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
