Two men have been charged following a luggage theft where a substance thought to be capsaicin spray caused injuries at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and charges for administering a noxious substance, as confirmed by court officials.

The charges follow an probe of an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Earlier that day, two women were robbed of their luggage taken after exiting a parking garage elevator, according to law enforcement.

A young child was one of the people hurt in the event. A total of five individuals required hospital care and were later discharged.

The incident – described by police as was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – caused disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
