It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
