Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has gone by that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles court official ruled to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A legal directive put a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of murder, with a record citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the killings, public figures shared divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing controversial statements that were met with immediate backlash by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the detractors last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan described the remarks as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an aide should have stepped in when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
