The winter transfer window is typically a period of intense speculation and possible big-money moves. Numerous high-profile stars are being connected to transfers away from their current teams. We examine some of the key names who might be on the move this month.

A. Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the AFCON, this has left the forward in contention, it appears an important transfer is close. Numerous elite sides, such as City and several European giants including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. However, a winter exit remains difficult, especially given the manager's reliance on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Wales winger has found starting opportunities limited at Tottenham this campaign. Although finishing as the side's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started only a small number of Premier League matches. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spain that he would be prepared to take a pay cut for a switch to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

The experienced Germany goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barça following new coach Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had an operation, a January exit looks increasingly likely. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a potential suitor, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This prolific English centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League could enhance his dwindling chances of making the national squad. However, arranging a deal presents major hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his reported enormous salary make any move complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton have all been mentioned as interested parties.

Conor Gallagher

The energetic English midfielder attracted widespread attention in the summer but stayed at Atlético Madrid. K. Yildiz

The exciting Turkey attacker has been in fine form for Juventus this season. As his existing deal running down, many English clubs – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the situation. The Turin club are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but face a battle to keep one of the continent's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

The highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. After impressing at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. The 19-year-old is widely tipped to complete a big-money transfer this month. Newcastle United reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a deal valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
